My first quilt!

Ok! I am super excited about this! I began the quilting process the summer of 2009! oi! So it has only taken me three whole summers to complete!

Summer number one: I cut out all the squares
Summer number two: Lots and lots of sewing, I sewed all the blocks, and then sewed all the blocks together to make the top
Summer number three(like last week): I sewed the border on, tied it off (with my moms help of course), and finished it off with the binding!

Few! What a project! For me, this is a huge sewing accomplishment! So, Yay for me!

Deep in the heart of Texas!

Last week Tyler and I took a fabulous vacation to Houston! Woot woot!

This is the third time I've been to Texas in one year, I'm spoiled :) But this time was even more exciting because I finally got to take my husband with me! Yay! We had a lot of fun out there.

The first day there Angela and Jeff took us to the Fine Arts museum, which was really fun to see. I pulled out my camera to take a picture in there, and got in trouble. Oops! Then Angela and Jeff took us to Chuy's, the yummy Mexican restaurant. Chuy's is only found in Texas, which makes it even better, right?

We got a tour of the Med Center, which is insane by the way. Its bigger than down town Salt Lake, and its all just hospitals!


And of course we had to go to the beach! It was extremely HOT and HUMID in Houston, so we were extremely excited to go to the beach. Last time when we went to the beach it was completely covered in seaweed- gross! luckily this time it was a beautiful sandy beach! The water was so warm! Its weird, because when I think of the ocean, I think of cold- but this water was the perfect temperature! Tyler and I weren't very good with the sunblock application, because we both got pretty burned. Well, I got burned, and then Tyler got fried!

On Sunday we got the official Hamaker tour of downtown Houston. They drove Tyler and I Downtown, so we could see all the big buildings. Houston is pretty crazy. There are three down towns, each with tons of big tall buildings!




Then Angela and Jeff showed us the real entertainment for Texans, squirrel feeding! Oh yes! We bought a big bag of peanuts to feed the squirrels that live around their apartment complex. Its actually pretty tricky, because first you have to lure them down from the trees



And be sneaky so you don't scare them away


The Hamakers just sat back and watched Tyler's mad squirrel feeding skills



We were always in the backseat with Christine in the car, so we have a bazillion pictures of her in her car seat, here are a few of my favorites!

Our little garden!

I am so excited about this garden here. I honestly had zero faith in my own gardening skills. But my plants aren't just growing, but I'm actually getting edible things from MY VERY OWN garden! Sweet!

Our first garden was pretty much a flop. I tried to grow tomatoes and cucumbers from pots. This is all I got: One wee little tomato

Now do you see why I doubted my plant growing skills? Just look at that plant behind me... sad isn't it?

Now look at our pretty garden, I'm impressed. We planted zucchini, yellow squash, green peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon and a pumpkin. Everything did pretty good except the pumpkin and watermelon. They did nothing. But that's ok, because we got enough zucchini to make up for it.



Yay veggies!

Point of Giving Thanks!

Two weekends ago we went and spent the weekend at Tyler's Parent's house in Herriman. (That's when we went to the Up house) On that Saturday we went down to Thanksgiving point.



First we explored the dinosaur museum and made friends with the dinosaurs.






Then we explored the gardens, I think these pillars are awesome!

In the gardens we were given a lovely fashion show by our niece Haylee


And then we got eaten by a shark! Yikes!!


Then we ended our exciting adventure on the farm...Moo!

Inside the UP house!

Last weekend we were able to take a tour of the Up house!I just had to post these pictures because I think this is the coolest house that I've ever seen! I would totally live here!


Our niece Hailey was certain that the house was going to float away because of the balloons!

It was just like we were in Disneyland- they even had the Characters there! Mr. Fredrickson was there, and apparently later Russel was there too! Now if they only had a fat golden retriever :)


I loved that they got all the details from the movie!








It never really shows the kitchen in the movie, but I loved this kitchen! They did it in a 50's retro style, I think the appliances are so cute!


This was a really cool! They had a book shelf that was actually a hidden door to a small playroom! Wow! That's like a little kids dream come true!

Wedding and Lagoon!

Last weekend I went up to Rexburg, Idaho to go to my cousin Nathan's wedding. Tyler and I thought that the wedding was on Saturday, so a month ago Tyler asked for that Saturday off, but it turned out that the wedding was on Friday! So Tyler wasn't able to go up to the wedding because he couldn't get the Friday off! Sad day!

The wedding was really nice. Nathan and Lindsey couldn't stop the smiling the whole entire day! Everyone kept commenting that they've never seen Nate smile that much before!

I didn't have my camera with me at the temple, so I only got a picture of them at the reception eating cake! Yum!



I didn't catch the story of this, but somebody made them a temple carved out of rice crispy treats!


Elizabeth caught the bouquet!! I guess that means that she's getting married next :)




On Saturday, the Clarkes were all planning on going to Lagoon, so Keith and I decided to join them! I haven't been to Lagoon since Tyler and I first started dating (three years ago!)



You can't really tell, but we are all completely soaked after riding Cliffhanger! We were pretty much soaked the whole entire day, because as soon as we dried off from Cliffhanger we decided to to Rattlesnake rapids! This was Katherine's very first time at Lagoon, and the very first ride we went on was the White wooden roller coaster! Which probably wasn't a very good idea, because I think that's the scariest ride in the park. Mostly because it feels like the roller coaster could fall apart at any moment! We did get her to ride Wicked though, and she actually liked that!
