A Blustery Day!

A couple weeks ago we had a giant windstorm that came and wrecked havoc on our roof!

 

Tyler had been in Portland all week, and the wind storm came in on Thursday. Luckily, Tyler came home that night. I was so glad that Tyler was there because at 1:00 that morning, it sounded like our whole entire roof was being torn off the house! It was pretty scary! Our roof is aluminum, and it was being ripped off right above our bedroom so it was WAY noisy and sounded a lot worse than it really was.  To top it all off, the power was out and the temperature in our house was dropping pretty fast!  So it was a pretty crazy night for us! I was SO happy that Tyler was home!  We almost headed over to my parents house, but we really didn't want to leave the house unless we had to because we would've had to clean up all the metal shingles in our driveway while being blown away in 20 degree weather in the middle of the night! Luckily we didn't have to do that, because as soon as we were thinking we should leave, the power came on! What a night!

So now we've got a big project ahead of us! We're thinking of actually re-doing the whole roof with asphalt shingles instead of the aluminum ones. Let's hope we can get the roof done before it snows a foot or two!
